VIRAGE platform

VIRAGE is a research platform about new control and writing interfaces for art creation and culture industries. Launched in January 2008, this project is meant to last 24 months. It has received the label Cap Digital and, further to the call for projects RIAM AudioVisuel et Multimédia 2007, it is supported by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche.

At a time when digital activities are merging, music sound creation, scenographic, mixing gestures, image and sound together, is a real laboratory for experiments. It anticipates uses and practices that will be in place in the most standardized areas of culture industries, in particular software interfaces dealing with writing and control of digital contents.

Virage is about establishing a state of the art of these new technologies that are in complete mutation within the fields of art production (show, multimedia calibration, interactive museum). It is also about the definition of specifications and good practices for future working environments in those areas of art production.

This project gathers:

  • The companies Jazz Mutant, Mikros Image, RSF, Blue Yeti ;
  • The Centre de recherche en Informatique et Création Musicale de l’Université de Paris 8, The Laboratoire Bordelais de Recherche Informatique de l’université de Bordeaux 1, The Laboratoire d’informatique, Mécanique et Sciences de l’Ingénieur de l’université d’Orsay ;
  • didascalie.net platform and the GMEA, Centre National de création Musicale d’Albi-Tarn, project leader.
